DescriptionI first noticed Freddie Williams' work on the Grant Morrisson Mister Miracle mini-series, which was part of the ambitious, perhaps too expansive, Seven Soldiers' series that DC published awhile ago. After that starting point, Williams' honed his craft and developed his style during his subsequent run on Robin (where he has said things began to click), and then refined them further on his six issue stint on the Flash. This is one of my favorite modern Flash covers, and evinces the power and poise of the famed Michael Turner Flash cover, while adding a little movement and a nice turn of perspective.About the seller: I could tell you that the seller, Ron Sonenthal, has a stargate in his living room that allows him to distort the time / space continuum and reach back into the Bronze Age of comics and pick out some of its best covers for his collection. Or, I could tell you that Ron is related to a certain famous art family and that his last name is really Romita-thal and that is how he gets some of the choicest JRJR covers for his collection. Another thing I could tell you is that Ron is a 12th level Wizard who entertains himself by conjuring up the finest comic art he can imagine and putting it in his collection. Of course, these things, while entertaining, are not true. What is true is that Ron is a terrific guy who has one of the nicest collections on CAF of vintage and modern art. What is true is that Ron is a true fan of the hobby and whose thoughtfulness knows no bounds. What is true is that our hobby is better off because Ron, and people like him, are part of it. And what is true is that I am very grateful that Ron sold me this piece. Thanks again Ron! Social/Sharing |

Great Cover. I think this is the reason he'll be pencilling the new series

Wow, what a cover! Flash looks badass! It's always hard with iconic characters to come up with a new and majestic pose and Freddie Williams II pulls it off!

My knowledge of Mr. Williams follows the same path as yours. First was his wonderful work in Mr. Miracle and then in Robin and I loved his style. Not to mention he was doing a couple of my favorite characters didn't hurt things either. The way the Flash stands out in this is so nice and the pose is pretty iconic. Congrats on getting this and to Ron as well for parting with it. Sounds like a cool guy... Not that I'm fishing for anything mind you ;)
