Description

This is the original comic art to Madame Xanadu #7, page 4. It's pencilled by me, Amy Reeder Hadley, and inked by Richard Friend! I drew it on the reverse side of standard DC comic board and it measures approximately 11 x 17 inches.

This was the first time I'd sold my original artwork, so I was sure to make it a special page that I put a lot of heart into. It's practically a splash page, and is the first time we see Xanadu reading from a crystal ball. I think it found a good home!

Written by Matt Wagner and published through Vertigo, Madame Xanadu received four Eisner nominations in 2009: Best Writer, Best New Series, Best Penciller/Inker, and Best Cover Artist. The story explores the Madame's long past, spanning through Camelot, Kublai Khan's court at Xanadu, the French Revolution...and this particular page hails from Victorian England in the chapter "Thru the Crystal."
