Description

Recently I came to the decision that my time as an original art collector/commissioner was rapidly coming to a close. Realizing this I decided that my last commission needed to be a piece by a master in the illustration field. I knew Joe Jusko would deliver a piece that would be a highlight of my collection but what character should I get him to paint? Conan? Red Sonja? Wonder Woman? Night Nurse? I had so many choices but sometimes in one of my rare sober moments I think about how much of my mispent youth was taken up with my staring at all of those fantastic painted covers that Joe did back in the day for the "The Savage Sword Of Conan The Barbarian" magazine for Marvel Comics. Between those covers and my poring over old, tattered, dog-eared copies of Forry Ackerman's Famous Monsters Of Filmland magazine I decided that the combination of Jusko and Forry's seminal creation of Vampirella would be the perfect commission subject. Since Joe has stated that Vampirella is his favorite character to paint (You got Jusko on my Vampirella! No, you got Vampirella on my Jusko!) it seemed to me that this piece was a masterpiece in the making. As you can easily see Jusko once again delivered a piece that shows why he is held in such high regard by both fans and professionals alike. I might be just a tad biased but I think this is one of the best Vampirella paintings Joe has ever done. Thanks for doing this piece for me Joe, you're swell!

Another masterpiece by the master painter. The details are just incredible on this one. The skin color makes this one sing. Just beautiful.
