Description(2011, Brush and ink on a big Bristol board, 16”x30”)Still shaking my head in amazement about acquiring this huge art for the dust jacket of Mark’s latest bevy of masterpieces, Various Drawings 5 (Flesk Publications). Mark, for me, has caught that perfect moment where in pulp perfection Jack and Hannah are caught deciding, “We’re not going to outrun this one, we may have to stand and fight!”. But are there enough rounds left? Lighting is so dramatic, and the fine dry brushed detail is out of this world, contrasted by thick bold strokes of ink. Have to call this piece a grail, never thought I’d have such a beautifully and richly detailed rendition of Xenozoic’s adventurous protagonists! Actually some of my favourite details are all the Nemicolopterus crypticus (not so up spec on my dinosaur taxonomy!) flying around the scene like bats in a horror film which add to the atmosphere! Thanks SO much to Mark and Mike for making this possible, it means a lot! =) Social/Sharing |

Wonderful work! But I think Mark would insist that it is BRUSH and ink, not pen and ink!

Yes, Peter, I'm sure 'grail' is the word... and I think you can't wait to have it framed on your wall! My deepest congrats!

Yowza! What an impressive Schultz drawing! Love the dramatic lighting! And the looks on Jack's and Hannah's faces are just perfect! Great pick-up!
