Description

A noticeable (to me anyway) hole in my collection has been a page from Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s, The Killing Joke. I love that this story is still discussed years later, and that most collectors know it cover to cover. I’ve long coveted a page from this book, and this one hit the spot for me. Alas, no Joker. But, still a key page. Batman and Commissioner Gordon having a conversation about values, foreshadowing the final confrontation?

Yeah, I’m ok with it.

I don't miss the Joker at all. Even if you don't see him, his presence is felt throughout the page, from the damaged James Gordon to the grotesque background images in the bottom panel. The third panel is really stunning. Congrats on a super Killing Joke page, Ron!

I can't agree more - I can hear the Jokers diabolical laughter eminate from these panels - he is there... plotting his sick and twisted ways!!! Congrats on attaining such a beautiful example!!!

One of the best pages from one of the best books of an entire era of comics. This one is hotter than a certain restaurant owner would be after reading a bad review of his baked ziti.

It's almost weird seeing a contemporary page of comic art in your gallery. But hey, even when you do jump era's, you don't mess around. The Gordon panels at the top are incredible. Such a heightened level of drama from both the art AND writing on this page. Congratulations again Ron!

Bit late to the party but at least I get to be #50. A fantastic example showcasing Joker's depravity and Batman's reaction to it. Some people talk about Killing Joke pages while you just go ahead and nail it. Congratulations on a decisive pick up, Mr S.

Bolland's work on the Killing joke is a virtuoso artistic performance on every level of comic book crafting I can't possibly imagine him doing anything better. Alan Moore never had a better interpretation of a script. Why Alan never worked with bolland again is beyond comprehension. FANTASTIC page! That last panel is one of the most iconic batman images of the 80's.

Ron,

I can't believe I have not commented on this yet.  I would have sworn I did but let me correct that now.  This is without doubt one of the very best pages in the book.  That last panel...love it.  The determination and character development for Jim Gordon in this one page is amazing.  After all he suffered he insists Joker be taken in the by the book.  He has always served as Batman's Northstar and it couldn't be more clear than in this page.
