DescriptionAs a teenager, I was not a Marvel Zombie but over 3/4 of my consumption was Marvel -- I didn't hunt for many DC back issues but the Rogers/Austin Detective run was one of the few DCs on my hit list.I have been after these pages for decades and just haven't seen many pop-up so have been happy to acquire pages from 474 and 475 but was missing a 476 page - and a page with Batman/Joker repartee. When I saw this page pop up in a CAF gallery, I was excited to see a primo 476 page and felt I had to make a serious offer to see if he would let me watch over it. The page has that who is crazier, Joker or Batman, theme captured - and I really like Panel 2 - and of course, some great architecture! Oh, and the small cloaked figure is Silver St. Cloud. Well, here it is - thanks Gordon! Social/Sharing |

Great page from a great series. That second panel is fantastic. Rogers must have thought so, too, as he used that image for one of his Batman portfolio plates.

Amazing page. The heavy sense of weteness and the rain does not prevent the fluid reading. Splendid storytelling.

This page is insanely detailed, Austin and Rogers at their finest! Congrats on grabbing this gem!

Amidst all the details, the storytelling is still crystal clear.

Mark it is great to see this wonderful collaboration back up in its new home; though I miss it, I can always refresh my joy seeing it again, in your excellent gallery. Best, Gordon.

Beautiful example, Mark! By far, this has to be the best Marshall Rogers piece in your collection. I used to own the cover to this particular book and have always regretted letting it go. Whatever you do...don't ever let this one get away! Congrats on a great find!

This is indeed an incredible acquisition. This pairing of Rogers and Austin was too short - both on Detective and Dr. Strange. Had they combined their talents for a longer run on Detective, this perhaps could have rivaled the three-year plus Byrne and Austin pairing on X-Men.

Rogers/Austin drawing Batman fighting Joker in the rain, doesn't get much better than that!

One of the top pages from one of the best Batman stories in its generation. It is just so hard to find that serendipitous comic magic in this age where comics function primiarily as advertisements and copyright preservation vehicles for movies. Congratulations on this spectacular acquisition!

You obviously have some special Rogers/Austin examples. The rain and moodiness of this one are just stunning!

Marshall Rogers' work holds such a love/hate thing with me. So many things about his work irk me and seem amateurish at times, but pages like this are such dynamite. When he nails it, as he did so many times on this run in Detective, it's breathtaking.

Great page! I grew up living this as a kid and knew way back then, this was classic. If you decide to sell some day, hit me up, I will pay you in gold.
