Description

While Howard Chaykin has never been shy of experimentating with his artwork, I have a special fondness for his wild formative years, before his style completely gelled...

This black & white Red Sonja story saw the light in a Marvel Magazine in late 1978, but it certainly looks to me like it was drawn earlier than that, with its wild mixture of angles and doodles and the fantastic work on shades...

Stylistically, it's also closer to the Windsor-Smith/REHoward sword and sorcery school than the more muscular approach preferred by Buscema et al... With all due respect, that's also my choice!
