So comic fans tend to be completists. I knew when I started this route of having Colleen Coover do one of the Endless every show that she appeared that I attended that eventually we'd get to Despair. Not the prettiest or the happiest (obviously) or the most fleshed out of the Endless, but definitely part of the family. I have this thing about commissions and convention sketches that I would like the artist to have fun doing a piece. I'm hoping that Ms. Coover is having fun doing these, because for me, they are a joy every time she shows me the newest. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical about Despair (as I was about Destiny), mostly because Colleen Coover tends to be a bit more cheerful in her character renditions. This piece, I think, shows the great range of the artist. Anyone who can make an attractive, thoughtful piece of art with Despair as the centerpiece deserves some kind of award (oh, well, what do you know).
