Description

Kevin Eastman's original cover art for the July 2012 Previews catalog. I first saw this in Kevin's art folder when he came to the UK for MCM Expo in 2012, I loved it as soon as I saw it but couldn't afford it on the day. I regretted letting it go as soon as I left the con. Luckily for me Kevin didn't sell it at MCM so I was able to purchase it from him the following week. The finished Previews cover is clearly the IDW TMNT with colored bandanas, but since I first saw it in black and white (and Kevin draws the IDW TMNT the same as he does Mirage) to me the piece has always represented the passing of the torch from the classic Mirage TMNT to the new Nick TMNT.

A modified version of this cover (with just the Nick TMNT) was later used as the subscribers variant cover of IDW's TMNT New Animated Adventures #1

What a great piece! Very cool to see Eastman's take on the newest incarnation of his creations! Congrats!
