Time for a trilogy of Justice Society characters by Robson and Eber and Hourman fills the bill.

The simple silhouette of the cityscape is reminiscent of 1940's comic book depictions of cityscapes, while the perfectly rendered figure and costume of Hourman is as sophisticated as the best comic book art of any era, making for an interesting contrast in style, and a timeless image in which all the elements mesh beautifully.
