DescriptionNot only was Shang-Chi the undisputed Master of Kung-Fu, but he's also got it very lucky to see his adventures depicted by some of the most astonishing talent available at the time!I've already waxed it quite lyrical about Paul Gulacy who exploded on this series and went on from grandeur to glory... But Gene Day comes a close second to my heart: his unique take on the characters, his wonderful use of light and shadows,... Each new issue was upping the ante and I just wished it never stopped... But, if there was one single thing I would retain from Gene's art, it would be his obvious love of all things structured: houses, palaces, monuments, works of arts, bridges, streets, cars, trucks, trains, planes or, in this case, boats... I sometimes felt as if he had built a full page only for the pleasure of including one of his great structural compositions, regardless of how it fit into the story! Don't mistake me: I loved it all the more for it! Social/Sharing |

Day was incredible. Great stealth-mode page. Love the scuba stuff. Panel 4 with the moon is killer!

I like these pages where art tells the story: kudos to Doug Moench for knowing when not to add words! Also, I was gripped by the 8-panel grid, these long, narrow panels strike me as very demanding art-wise and Gene must have had a ball figuring out the right angle and the perfect frame for each. As such, I find it very cinematic, but I think this permeates the whole series, doesn't it?
