DescriptionIn the seemingly unlimited number of Conan stories he drew, John Buscema, on top of his penciling game already, was also teamed up with some really great inkers.Still, and this is personal taste, folks, I think nobody enhances his art like Alfredo Alcala... Working for the Savage Sword of Conan mag meant being "relieved" from the "burden" of coloring and leaving only pen and brush do the job, but adding a lot of subtleties with the greys. In the teamwork that is comic art, it must have been quite satisfying for John and Alfredo to know they had the final cut on the page. And this may be why I feel they outdid themselves, conjuring the spirit of all the great illustrators of the last century... It's no mean feat to produce page after page of exciting storytellling that also stops you in your tracks for the formal, sometime academic, beauty of one lone figure, or a gesture, or... a palmtree! Spectacular Page!! I never seen Conan in the Desert..Splendid Collaboration between Buscema and Alcala!
