Description

This is the title splash page of "Strike Fever" from 'Wonder Wart-Hog The Hog of Steel' #2. I believe this was page 24 of the magazine, published in 1968.

One of my 4th grade buddies used to blow our minds by sneaking his older brother's underground comics into school. I had the unusual experience of reading Wonder Wart-Hog before I read most superhero comics. I didn't get a lot of the references, of course, but I loved the irreverence.

This was reprinted in Underground Classics 7 (1988) and again in The Best of Wonder Wart-Hog (2013). Tony Bell was a talented artist/designer and fellow UT Austin alum, and their collaboration on WWW is usually considered the best period for the art.
