Description

Animator Preston Blair drew the Hyacinth Hippo scenes in Disney's Fantasia and the nightclub singer in Tex Avery's MGM cartoons Red Hot Riding Hood, The Shooting of Dan McGoo, Swing Shift Cinderella, and others. He is also the author of the Walter Foster series of books on animation strongly endorsed by animation authority Jerry Beck. The rare first edition with it's original drawn examples can be seen online at the non-profit Animation Resources or John K Curruculum with John Kricfalusi's commentary. Preston's brother Lee and his wife Mary were also artists at the animation studios doing design work. Lee ran his own studio in New York in the 1950's.

This is a painted animation cel which is unlikely Blair's work, but I'm sure he designed the character. I'd guess it is for a black & white TV project, possibly a commercial. Despite the humble origin, I think she'd fit in fine in a Disney or MGM cartoon.
