Description

Chris Sanders Mermaid recreation. If you are a fan of his, you'll remember her from Chris Sketchbook #2. In the original she was yellowish and has a cut off tail, I just assumed it was the way it was printed, when in actuality she was drawn that way. I tried for several years to acquire her from Chris.
Chris just doesn't sell his originals- So after repeated attempts and raising the bar each time, Finally I asked if he would be willing to recreate this masterpiece.
And he looked at me and said yes.
I picked her up this year at SDCC, He was pleased and I was over the moon.
The colors are different, much more vibrant and she's very large measuring 14 x 20".
Done in dyes on watercolor paper.
A funny story about this. I picked it up immediately on preview night, I paid for it and was glowing. My Convention was made in the first 10 minutes.
I immediately walked over and showed a friend who was blown away, till he said , too bad it's not signed. My eyes just about popped out of my head.
Turned around went right back to Chris and asked him if he would sign this, he did a double take.
He was so excited about finishing this for me, he forgot to sign it. He pulled out his pencil and stopped everything to sign it for me right then and their.
I was very lucky this all came together the way it did, but my luck didn't stopo their.
Chris brought 3 more finished Illustrations for sale, 1 was gone before I had a chance, I didn't hesitate and bought one of the remaining 2, I'll post this in a few days.

Sanders work is amazing, and his film contributions equally so. Very cool guy in person as well. Even if he doesn't do sketching or sell his originals... often. :-)
