I had just turned 15 when I attended the Comic-Con and met Charles Schulz.
I took the book with me on the odd chance that I might get to see him and get him to autograph it. I was sitting in the movie theatre/lecture hall listening to another cartoonist giving his presentation when I noticed a man sitting with a group of people at the very back of the room... I'm guessing that it may have been his family. He looked like Mr. Schulz but I wasn't sure.

I observed him for some time and noticed him getting up and exiting the room to my right... by himself. I got up and headed out to the hallway and saw him coming down the hallway toward me. As he got closer I became aware that it was indeed Mr. Schulz and I couldn't believe it. As he walked up to me I introduced myself to him and told him what a huge fan I was and asked him to autograph my book for me... he said of course he would. He took my book as we walked down a spiral staircase to the lobby and I watched in disbelief as he drew Snoopy!!! I was blown away... it was a magic moment that I will never forget. Just Charles Schulz and I hanging out together like 2 friends... wow!

I asked if I could take his photo and we parted company. I became an artist and cartoonist mainly because of Peanuts and Mr. Schulz. I have been a working Graphic Illustrator/Cartoonist for over 31 years now.
