Description

This piece was drawn at the Christian Booksellers Convention in 1987. The company I was working for at the time, David C. Cook Publishing Co., publishers of The Picture Bible (featuring Will Eisner studio alum, Andre LeBlanc's great Biblical comic art), was publishing Disney animator Glen Keane's new children's book series, Adam Raccoon in the Forever Forest. I managed the trade show, and Glen Keane did drawings like this for children whose parents were buyers at the show. I couldn't pass it up. A year later, Keane, son of Bill Keane (of Family Circus), would win an Academy Award for directing The Little Mermaid. This is marker with pastels. 12 x 18."
