Description

GRAIL.

Ever since American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest debuted back in 2011, Sean Murphy has been at the top of my most wanted list. I've followed everything that he's done since then and always look forward to whatever project he's associated with. When the opportunity for a convention commission came up, I knew exactly what I wanted to request. Aliens is my favorite movie of all time. Sean is my favorite comic artist. I went with Ripley and gave him a few options for vehicles.

And MAN... did he nail this or what?!

Everything that I love about his art is present here. The details in the tech. Using fingerprints to create shadowing effects. Ink splatter. Oh and he thew in an ALIEN! I never expected an additional character, even as a background figure, and it totally makes the piece that much more killer.

If this wasn't already special enough, Sean tweeted soon after ECCC that this was his last convention commission EVER! I'm still in disbelief that this is in my collection and am incredibly grateful to Sean and Jason Schachter at Essential Sequential for this incredible drawing.
