This is a 3D shadowbox paper sculpture of THE UNCANNY X-MEN #135 cover for client Victor Perez. The original art was by John Byrne & Terry Austin from 1980.

This used 20 color laser copies using an image from the internet. The 3D is made completely by hand using the copies, balsa wood, markers, and other tools. It took about 30 hours. The most complex parts were Phoenix's hair and the broken logo. That also made this interesting and fun to do!
