Description

Original Silver Age artwork for The Spectre #3 (DC, 1968), with pencils and inks by Neal Adams from what many view as his peak period of creativity. This superb example features the remarkable inking skills of the master, seldom found in the marketplace today and becoming much more desirable to seasoned collectors each and every year. No one could ink Neal like Neal, his skills and ingenuity so far ahead of every other artist at the time.

This piece features an enormous and stunning close-up of the Astral Avenger in the top splash panel as he consoles his friend Ted Grant (Wildcat) about his waning skills as a boxer and crime fighter. Superb images of the main hero, The Spectre, his co-star Grant (Wild Cat) and the villain of the tale, Jack Dold.

Neal's skillful use of zip-a-tone shading is not only remarkable in its execution, but beyond bold in the fact that he uses it in each and every panel on the page. A trademark testament to the talent and genius that is Neal Adams. Simply an amazing piece in every aspect.
