Description

Great Mazinger by Darryl Banks from Free Comic Book Day 2016. I have been a fan of this character since I received a toy when I was 8 or 9 years old. I picked Darryl to do this sketch because I know he has a love of Japanese things like Ultra Man. Little did I know that when I showed him my reference that he would tell me that he was listening to the Great Mazinger soundtrack in his car on the way to the store that morning! He is such a fan that he even has learned the Japanese writing(as shown in the sketch) for the character. It is always great when you can connect with an artist like that.
