Back in 1988, I picked this book up and was blown away-on almost every level it was a revelation.brilliant design, awesome draftsmanship, jaw dropping use of color..beautiful--flash forward 10 years and nearly every goofy comicartist is doing their bad take on "MANGA"...guys from Image, Top Cow, Marvel, etc....it wouldn't have been a problem, but their version was just so obvious, so pedestrian....and their reward for being so uninspired--Wizard top ten artists all---AMANO is the real deal..and always a joy to look at...and his gift of this sketch will for years inspire me to be a better artist.

Amano's sense of design is impeccable. To be fair, though, a lot of "real" Japanese manga artists look pedestrian next to Amano.
