Continued from Part 1

The finished piece by Gerhard.

So here is the final artwork to a project where I picked up an old commission piece that Dave had created for someones “Wall of Cerebus”.

Dave had created the entire Illustration, and when the original owner decided to sell it I picked it up, scanned it, stripped out the tower and the tone and sent Gerhard the image of Cerebus. I gave Ger the dimensions of the original and he then took the digital file I sent him, printed it on to a paper that he likes to use that can handle both ink and paint, and then he worked out all of the perspective - he even added Mick’s and Keef’s horseless/stranded carriage - inked the tower and then painted it as if it were a long lost cover.

I always imagined it to be a variation of cover 88 (my all time favourite Cerebus cover) but with the addition of the carriage below, and a note from Gerhard, it became more of an in-between cover for issues 86-87.

As soon as I got it I scanned it and then I felt I had to add the ISSN number and the Cerebus masthead to the piece to make it complete.
