Description

The cover to Dead Letters 3 published by Boom Comics, written by Chris Sebela with art by Chris Visions.

While I’ve yet to read the final act of the serie, it was a nice concept that could have been executed with better clarity. Still very enjoyable and my discovery of the great art of Chris Visions.

His covers were quite eye catching and specially this one. The central eye caught both in the woman’s hair and her exhaled smoke, both elements that also defines the main character’s head were a bit hypnotic to me. I kept coming back to this cover time and time again to finally buy it.

Now I’m not totally sure the (“X”) composition works from a technical point of view. It’s a bit too busy, maybe a bit messy but you can’t fault Chris for trying something daring and like I said, I found it hypnotic so in that sense it works.

Let’s not forget the panther in all this which is a plus for me ;)
