Description

I found this piece (along with many other gems I couldn't afford) whilst vacationing in a small village in France.

We were walking around the local shops and bars at night when I walk past a used book and bande desinee (French graphic novel) store. I see a few pieces of comic art hanging off the counter. So I strike up a conversation with the shop owner although I spoke no French and he spoke no English. Somehow, I was able to communicate that I like Moebius and the guy tells me to wait, and goes to the back. He emerges a few minutes later with a folder that was full of Moebius art.

It was quite a sight. I had no idea if these were real Moebius pieces or forgeries. But the guy seemed genuine, so I bought one small piece that I could afford. I was told it was published but I had no idea in what. That turned out to be a French adult magazine called L'Echo des Savanes that many greats such as Neal Adams, Wally Woods and, of course, Moebius had contributed to.
