DescriptionSOLD AT AUCTION FOR $6,089!13x15" frame holds artboard that has been double-matted to 7.75x10.5" and features pencil, pen and ink and inkwash original art by Wayne Boring (1905-1987), an American comic book artist most associated w/Superman during the Golden Age into the Silver Age. Art features full body Silver Age image of Superman standing w/his hands on hips, Boring's "hands" appearing at left and right; one holding fountain pen and inking the penciled art that other hands is drawing w/pencil. Hand-lettered instruction text reads "Friend Dan - Here Is Your 'Drawing Lesson'... First Get A Piece Of Paper!" and goes on to give relatively simple instructions for such a finished piece, a nice bit of humor from Boring. Bottom right concludes w/"Thanks For Your Nice Letter" and art has been signed by Boring. Exc. Dan Makara Collection. Social/Sharing |
