Description

This is the art from the sketch cover for Amazing Spider-Man #546 It's kind of unusual in that it appears to have been drawn on basic typing paper. My initial thought was that it must be prelim, but it exactly matches the sketch cover variant, leading me to believe that the prelim is used for the sketch variant as opposed to the uninked, uncolored version.

Edit (April 2, 2019): I met and spoke with Mr. McNiven this weekend and he confirmed that this item is both a prelim and that it was used for the "sketch variant" of the book. He told me that he had turned it in for approval of the concept and that once given the go ahead, he did the cover that was published on the regular version of the book. He said that he had assumed this piece was destroyed . He said that he was surprised to see it come across the table for a signature and that most artists are not aware of what is done with the art once it is submitted and payment is received!
