DescriptionA nice page from the Tom Strong & the Robots of Doom mini-series by the always impeccable Chris Sprouse inked by the always slick Karl Story.Tom Strong has been my favorite titles coming out of ABC comics (Jack B. Quick being close). It was fantastic under Alan Moore’s writing and has remained very good and enjoyable under Peter Hogan. The link between the two writers being Chris Sprouse of course whose work I absolutely love for his great “clean” style and amazing (if quiet) storytelling. Here we have a Tom Strong from the future going back to his past to help face the current threat. What I really enjoyed in this page is his interaction with a baby Solomon (who they put in a baby park, just like a human baby, a nice touch). And facing him he realizes that he probably hasn’t shown him the affection he deserves or needs which I found to be a touching human moment from a character who is seemingly perfect and always on top of things. Also of note is that I have always found that Chris is very good at drawing characters walking around and make it interesting instead of dull. Look at his art on various titles, characters walk a lot and they always look realistic and relaxed. It simply flows. A quiet page with an nice establishing shot, full of nice storytelling bits and great smooth inks by the always great Karl Story. Social/Sharing |
