Description

Gil Kane and Tom Sutton: Giant-Size Conan #1 Page 31 (Marvel, 1974). From the comic book adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "The Hour of the Dragon". Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Also shown is a preliminary layout sketch of the page in ink and graphite on 11" x 17" illustration paper.

Provenance: Heritage Signature Auction 2018.

Tom Sutton over Gil Kane was such a great artist pairing... I really like the textures and quirky Suttonisms in the inking on these Giant Size Conan stories, and their Werewolf By Night and Warlock issues, as well. Congrats on a nice addition to the Larchives!
