Description

Jorge R. Gutierrez is the creator of El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera television series (with his wife and muse Sandra Equihua), The Book of Life feature film, and Google Spotlight Stories: Son of Jaguar. He is currently working on Maya and the Three for Netflix. Border Bang is a collection of his pop culture paintings. The artist was signing for my brother's Stuart Ng Books at DesignerCon on Saturday, November 17, 2019 and at the CTNX Animation Expo on Sunday, November 18. I had listened to Jorge on the Bancroft Brothers Animation Podcast and found him full of personality. At the Burbank signing, Jorge was super friendly to his fans. The con set him up at the signing bar with the line of fans across the hallway. As each person walked up to the table, Jorge got up and walked around to greet them, shook hands, posed for photos and selfies, and then settled down to sketch and sign the book. He chatted through the whole time. I'm sure he will have more signings in the Los Angeles area. Jorge will be at the inaugural Lightbox Expo in Pasadena, California on Sept. 6-8, 2019. The event is put on by Schoolism founder Bobby Chiu and Emerald City Comic Con founder Jim Demonakos.
