Description

I didn't read many Marvel comics in the 90's, opting instead for the rich and vibrant indie comics that provided a wonderful alternative to what the big two were offering at the time. That changed for me with the first solicitation of Milligan and Allred's 'X-Force', which was my gateway drug back into the House of Ideas (cemented by Bendis and Maleev's 'Daredevil', which debuted a few months after that).

Really excited to have a swell example of the team doing what they do best, including such madness as Dead Girl literally leaping through an enemy combatant in panel two, and then garroting another soldier with the first one's intestines in panel 3. Too hot for the comics code, baby!

(Although they did remove the head that Vivisector decapitated in panel 2 from the published page... poor Miles! No respect! :) )

I love everything about this page, but that team shot in panel 2 is highlight reel material!!!

This page is a perfect example of the fun, zany, and brutal magic that made this series my favorite of all time.

There were certainly plenty of negatives about the Jemas era at Marvel, but there's no denying it was the most innovative period at the company since the 1970s with titles like X-Force/X-Statix leading the way. This is an awesome example from that fun time at Marvel.
