DescriptionA great X-Force page by the too rare Adam Pollina.His X-Force run during the 90s was certainly a breath of artistic fresh air amidst all the angry “Image house style”. I understand it was not for everyone but bravo for Marvel to put him on a X-title. A fun run with Jeph Loeb writing. A truly memorable moment of that run for me was his offbeat rendition of the Blob who truly looked disgusting and obese (for the first time?). He really went to the extreme with the character and he really looked like his name. Here we have the humongous Blob catching a bomb and putting it out bare handed. The last panel with his grotesque smile is fantastic. The super deformed perspective on his arms gives a splashy feeling to the page. Theoretically, Bud Larosa would not be an obvious choice on Pollina as I find he benefits from smoother inks but I can’t say the result looks bad. Social/Sharing |
