Is it still a �Josie� story without any Josie in it? 
Although I�m only showing the first page of this 1967 tale, 
this 5-pager is all Melody, my favorite of the Pussycats. 
Alex Cabot tries to swindle her, but fails. A variation of
the same storyline was repeated at least once more in a 
later comic.
 
In the comics, Melody is almost always called by her first name.
Her last name has changed over time. Originally, it was �Jones�. 
Then it became �James�, then �Jones� again. Most recently, it�s 
�Valentine�.
 
The inking credits are a little hazy. One site says Vincent 
DeCarlo did the inks and the letters, another site says Rudy 
Lapick did the inks. The story appeared in "Josie #25".
