Description

Alex Schomburg - Captain America, Bucky, and Sub-Mariner Original Art Painting (1986). Golden Age comics with Alex Schomburg covers are highly collectible and prized-possessions of lucky fans. Schomburg was recruited by Timely Comics editor Joe Simon in 1940. Simon, and Timely publisher Martin Goodman wanted their books to stand out on the newsstands, and felt that covers stuffed with action would do so. They were right. Schomburg was a well-known pulp artist already, so he was a perfect choice for the job. Bold colors, meticulous detail, and slam-bang action made for great and often iconic covers.
