DescriptionWell, this is a big one for me. It is the most personal piece I've been able to acquire.I've mentioned it in other Chew pieces, but Chew was the comic that got me reading monthly books again after more than a decade. It also introduced me to the world of OA collecting (blessing or curse??). I've chatted with Rob about letting this go for a few years now and so thankful he decided to let me be its caretaker. This was the comic that changed his, and writer John Layman's lives, so this first issue was a part of them. I could write so much about Chew and it's comic legacy, but I found a great article that can do it so much better than I ever could. Please check it out if interested. https://sktchd.com/longform/the-creator-owned-ideal-looking-at-the-story-behind-chew-as-it-begins-its-end/ My favorite section is where it talks about Chew's influence in changing the norm for modern creator-owned books. Rob also included a page from his sketchbook when he was first designing Chew. Finally, in honor of Layman, I had to include a cat picture!! Social/Sharing |

Sincere congrats, brother! A very rare thing that we're able to pick up pieces that are so personally meaningful...and look great, too! Chew will go down as very important book in the history of indie comics and rightfully so. Here's hoping to see a GOOD live version at some point...but not at all needed to cement the legacy! Congrats, again!

Never took you to be such a foodie! As a key image #1 - it's a real score. And it's the main cover, not one of 10,000 variants. Huge Congrats.

Love the additional pics, especially "Chew and cat." Haha! It is extremely cool as a collector to acquire that one piece that means so much. I'm so happy that it happened to you in such a big & personally fulfilling way. Congrats!

Congrats on an historic pickup! I loved the series and had no idea it would become what it did after that first issue (despite its multiple printings).

Thanks, James! Yeah all over it. I actually have the cover to Chu #1 (variant, but the only OA for it) in my gallery too!

Wow. What a story! Matches the awesomeness of the piece itself. Nothing better than scoring the art that speaks to you on every level.
