Description

SHAZAM #35 (DC, 1978) original artwork by the legendary talents of Don Newton (pencils) and Kurt Schaffenberger (inks). From the last issue's classic enthralling saga entitled, "Backward, Turn Backward, O Time in Your Flight" by E. Nelson Bridwell, this early scene features the lovely Mary Marvel theorizing about time actually moving in reverse along with her memory synchronized with it. Captain Marvel decides to lead the Marvel Family to the famed Rock of Eternity to discover this puzzling mystery.

This piece is highlighted first and foremost by a stunningly beautiful, full figured image of Mary Marvel in panel one, along with a nice close-up shot of her in panel two. The entire Marvel Family are featured in panel three as well as a strong close-up shot of Captain Marvel in panel four, while closing with a dramatic epic shot of the Rock of Eternity. All in all, this page is a superb example of the sublime skills of both Newton and Schaffenberger at the top of their game.
