Description"The tell tale heart/le coeuer revelateur" by Alberto Breccia(short Story) Only the first panel is original drawn in ink. All the other panels on the board were copied in different format. 90% are stats. The interpretation by Alberto Breccia with the same drawings copied again and again in a constant repetition reminds to a labyrinth. The Argentinian artist presents a new reading of a classic of horror literature and a new experience with the comic medium. 1974, Alberto Breccia began a series of comic book adaptations of classic horror literature, including Edgar Allan Poe's tale, "The tell tale Heart". He adapts this literary text to comics in an experimental and expressive way. The artist's reflection to this work: "Every new story, every story, has its own atmosphere. My fundamental problem is to try to make this atmosphere as much as possible so that the reader can capture it in the most complete way possible. So I have to change my instruments and the way I interpret the text every time. For example, I cannot illustrate The tell tale Heart in the same way as William Wilson or Mister Valdemar; they are different works of each other, with different atmospheres. » Social/Sharing |

I well remember this haunting story. Brilliantly composed page by the Argentine master, in order to create a growing sense of anguish and hallucination!

Masterful! Please explain: the page is mostly photostat copies, correct? I'm guessing the first panel is actual art?

Oh WOW! One of my favorite Breccia stories for the pure genius of the storytelling and cadence he created in his layouts.
