Description

Back in 1992 I was just really getting into original comic art, but was fully enthralled with the Sandman series that we all know Dave was the cover artist for. I wanted to to get him to do a portrait of one of each Endless. I started out with Dream, and it took a long time for the goal to be achieved, but it is done with Despair.

Dave did a fantastic job, as always, really capturing the spirit / essence of the character. The colors on the piece are amazing, and I love the expression of her. Sure, she's not the prettiest girl at the prom, but a big part of my collecting dream.

Unfortunately unable to thank Dave in person for this, but he has my eternal thanks for not only this piece, but the others I have been fortunate to get through the years. Also, thanks to Allen for helping make the arrangements - definitely one of the best to work with.

Both commissions were great. This one is evocative and McKean just has that ability to go dark...I hear Trent Reznor NIN when I look at some of these. grapeape approval * * *
