Description

The very first piece I ever 'commissioned' from Ben (and the first time I ever managed to meet and speak with him), at the Cheltenham (UK)True Believers Con in 2017. It wasn't until the end of what had clearly been an absurdly busy day for him (sketching, participating in panels and so forth) that Ben was able to find a moment to produce the much-hoped-for sketch.
I asked if he'd be so kind as to do a sketch of an 'Angry Batman' (an image with which he was at that time much associated) - and he duly rattled off this A5 piece in a matter of minutes.
Extraordinary to watch him at work and witness his characteristic (and seemingly effortless) cross-hatching technique.
