Description

Michael Herring Ruins of Isengard Illustration from The J. R. R. Tolkien Calendar (Ballantine Books, 1981) . I'm a huge fan of LoTR and always wanted something that i can display. This is such a great piece, so much personality and detail that the small pic doesn't do any justice.
I love the mood and the expressions of the two hobbits who are indulging in a pleasant smoke in the aftermath of the battle of Isengard.
Created in oil on 16" x 15.5" foam core board
