Description

This raunchy, silly, bittersweet "fairy tale for grown-ups" by J.M. DeMatteis and Jon J. Muth ranks as one of my favorite comics series ever. The book broke new ground as one of the first, if not the first, fully painted comics series produced for the American market. As a relative comics neophyte at the time, I recall being smitten by Muth's gorgeous, whimsical art (with assists from Kent Williams and George Pratt), even if the subject matter and themes explored in the series were perhaps a bit above the head of 12 year old me. Having reread the series as an adult, I love it all the more and feel that it holds up just as well now, almost 35 years after its initial publication.

This cover is from the original Epic Comics run (the series was reprinted a decade later under DC's Vertigo imprint with brand new covers by Muth and a slightly altered ending).

Nice art and conratulations. I have a very soft spot for Moonshadow too. It took my breathe away with both story and art and is among my favorites. Great image you chose.
