Description

H. W. Hornung was Arthur Conan Doyle's brother in law . Hornung wrote a wide range of fiction but is best know for his series about the master thief Raffles- who sadly never clashed with Sherlock Holmes.

This piece is from an interesting series about Witching Hill, a fictional suburb of London- the series is part occult- the burb is haunted - part mystery, part thriller and one story is mostly romance- the art is from the June 1912 issue of Scribner's

The piece by the way is quite large and barely fit into the large art file box I keep some of the exhibit art in. It is pretty impressive far more than when I saw it on line.
