My third Freak Force cover by Victor Bridges. This is a variant cover to the regular issue 13 one.

Both covers to issue 13 featured an homage to a well-known John Byrne cover. A great way for Mr Bridges to pay respect to his biggest influence. To close the circle so to speak. I�m of course referring to Uncanny X-Men 138 which see Cyclops �quitting� the team (gasp!).

This fine homage works super well in b&w whit all the white space (and you have to admit it works better than pink ^^). It�s also a full team cover which is a plus as compared to my other 2 covers.

I find that the various reactions to her departure from all team members are well pictured here.

Let�s not forget to mention the expert and smooth inks by Mr Karl Kesel who really matched Mr Bridges line well, having inked Byrne previously.

Considering the fact that Victor Bridges is not drawing comics anymore (due to personal/religious reasons was I told by Mr Larsen), I feel very lucky to own 3 original covers from his best work ever, especially considering he drew 16 covers out of the 19 published (including this variant). It would be arrogant of me to say, 3 in, 13 to go but I certainly would not mind adding more ;)

Writing about this serie has made me wanting to read it again :)

I can see what you mean about the team member reactions - gotta love that attention to detail! Definitely a nice homage to an oft homaged cover. Your excitement in owning it, as well as the others you have, is clear - congrats!
