DescriptionSpace Riders # 1 page 8 & 9Art by Alexis Ziritt Written by Fabian Rangel Jr Published by Black Mask Comics - March 25, 2015 This is such a great era of comics where creator-owned books and new indie artists are flourishing at Image, Vertigo, Icon, Adhouse, Fantagraphics, and now even Epitaph Records with their own comic-arm called Black Mask. I first met Alexis and Fabian in 2014 at HeroesCon and random picked up the Space Riders preview comic based on the cover. It contained 4 black and white pages and a few sketches. At the time the book wasn't even picked up and they were using it to shop to publishers. In 2015 I started to see some posts about the book being published and had to pick up the first issue. The book felt familiar but with edge and grit and Ziritt's art and color really stood out and with low print runs the issues have sold out and gone to multiple different prints and on to HIGH prices on ebay. I fell in love with the first issue and the team quickly became a favorite. This page features the first introduction of Yara and meeting with Captain Peligro and Mono. Also this piece is big at 15.25 by 22 inches. The art on this page was also used for the backing board for the MONO action figure sculpted by The Mark Ultra and variant figure released at Designer Con, 11/21-22/2015. 1) Regular Version is an edition of 35 produced - Space Rider Mono of the Skullship Santa Muerte with his machete and the Book of Secret Fire. 2) Variant Version is an edition of 10 produced - Space Rider Mono of the Skullship Santa Muerte in his guerrilla warfare outfit with his machete.
