Very happy to get this page from one of the great Loeb/Sale collaborations. This was one of the first series I ever waited for the trade and then shelled out for the fancy hardcover. I feel very fortunate to get one of the pages set in Smallville which were my favorite.

Tim has said in many interviews that Norman Rockwell was a big inspiration for those scenes and this one has it on full display. Though I don't know if anyone can carve a turkey in any medium without it being compared to the Freedom from Want painting. If you look at the small details they give clues to the characters' off panel lives. For instance, the lampshade in the first panel is tilted askew so as to better read the book sitting on the chair.
