DescriptionNever mind shrugging, Atlas here is downright stumbling...Breathtaking detail from Gabriele, some of which is obscured due to letters and colors on the published pages, unfortunately. The upper right side of the spread is the highlight for me here: Gabriele's gorgeously soft touch with the pencil allows for wisps of sunlight to filter through leaves onto the trunks of the trees, while also showcasing the outer wall of the mansion voicing its displeasure when Atlas comes a-knocking. I love the added touch of the broken Avengers “A” sign on the front lawn. Such attention to detail is apparent throughout, though, and I'm also smitten with the bottom right panel, from the paneling and doorframe right down to the lighting on the hinges of the door Ben is opening. Gadzooks! Some really interesting differences between this and the published page, including Doctor Strange in his Sorcerer Supreme costume (rather than his black turtleneck and brown overcoat) and Jessica Jones clad in her unmentionables in panel 3 (rather than her being fully clothed, as published). The broken tier of piled horizontal panels in the middle of the page underscores the extent of the damage being perpetrated here (I mean, even the panel borders are being demolished!), and I love how you can see Atlas’ bent knee (ankle?) outside of the window behind Victoria Hand in panel 4. Gabriele’s Ben Grimm is a delight, and the last panel spotlights him particularly well; I love his expression, coupled with the simple, perfect dialogue for the moment (“What the hell is...?”). Very nice! I can see the refinement of Dell'Otto's pencils that get lost a little in the published work.

Big congrats, Jason! This one's got some of everything - a splash, action, nice storytelling, lotsa characters...not hard to see why you're excited with the pick up :) Dell'Otto gets a lot of credit, and deservedly so, for his painted cover work so we can forget that he's also just as MEAN with a pencil with it comes to interiors. Congrats, again, man!

I love this SOOOO MUCH! A clinic on contrast, comedy and action from the master Dell'otto! I also love the throwback to the Thing's running poker game that was first chronicled in Marvel Two-In-One #51!
