Description

The Thing made one solo appearance with the Micronauts back in the glory days of the Bronze Age, but the full team up potential of these headliners was never explored to its maximum potential. As I have been known to do from time to time, I have taken it upon myself to commission a series of key scenes in a kind of faux 'what if' comic that never was, but should have been.

The Marvel era of the Micronauts wrung many a tale out of the "my brother is my enemy" concept. I always liked the look of Prince Argon, the armored half-man, half-horse, some time ally, some time enemy, who also happened to be Marionette's brother. Argon needed to be in this story. And I needed a scene to explain how the Micronauts and the Thing got to be the same size for their adventure. This commission, featuring Arcturus Rann, Marionette, the Thing and Acroyear trapped in the rays of Argon's mysterious shrinking machine, checks both of those boxes.

I have many commissions from Luke McDonnell in my gallery because he is always incredible to deal with. Perfect dealings and fantastic art each and every time. The same could be said of inking whiz Bill Anderson. I want to draw your attention to the incredible cross hatched background that Bill laid down for this piece. It is next level. My thanks to both artists for another great commission experience.
