Description

Principal characters of Denny Colt (aka The Spirit), Police Commissioner Dolan and Ellen Dolan. It's a great looking page that is perfectly in keeping with with Eisner's original tone and style.
Rendered in ink and Zipatone over blue pencil on bright white Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15".
All text is paste-up with some glue residue near it.

"When it was announced that a new SPIRIT magazine was in the works, with material by people other than Will Eisner, I leapt at the chance to contribute, submitting six pages of art, three scripts, and six plot outlines.
Then... dead silence.
Years later I learned that all the stories that were going to be used had already been purchased.
I first discovered Eisner's The Spirit in the late 1950s, spending many a Saturday afternoon at artist Larry Ivie's apartment, reading and rereading his treasured collection and wondering if modern comics would ever approach this level of sophistication.
After a long and productive career most of us can only envy, Will Eisner passed away in December, 2004, due to complications from heart surgery"
