Description

Detective Comics Annual #1 (2018) original cover art for "Clay" (March 2018). This is a personal favorite cover of mine by Eddy Barrows, as it really shines a light on how good he is on many levels. His Clayface is truly a monster, and he expertly incorporates classic horror elements that also provide a sinister sense of realism. Clayface is absolutely massive and menacing, a true modern age colossus, while Batman stands his ground amidst the massive hand coming to snatch him. Most sites have Eber Ferreira listed as the inker on this piece, but given that Eber's signature is not present, I am led to believe that Eddy both penciled and inked this piece, which is a rarity among his Batman covers. As much as I love Eber's inking (and how it perfectly complements Eddy's pencils), this also shows that Eddy holds his own as an inker. Done in pencils and copics on 11" X 17" DC art board.

Wow, dramatic much?! I've always though Clayface is such a cool character. Obviously so much you can do visually and Barrows give us a great example. Congrats!
