Original colorist of Batman Red Rain Les Dorscheid colors on Kelley Jones pencil/ink scan. The original is also in my possession and in the gallery.

"It proved to be challenging... (Les) needed to do a few experiments, testing the paint and the surface before diving in. The paper is a nice quality but when (Les) tested transparent water color paints and dies, it absorbed the water and crinkled. To paint with oil paint (Les) needed to seal the surface first with 2 coats of workable fixative and 2 coats of matt medium. The other issue was that any paint over the top of the black image will cover or tint the black line work. I
(Les) worked to keep this to a minimum and (Les) also re painted the larger black areas with black paint"
I couldn't be happier with the result!
